Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Inspector UT Level II ( Composites)

Position Summary:

The NDT Inspector Level II is responsible for operating non-destructive ultrasonic test equipment using documented procedures. The position requires a level II certificate in ultrasonic methods, required skills and knowledge to set-up equipment, conduct tests, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results within assigned procedures.


  • Conduct NDT UT examinations for conformance to customer requirements and approved techniques and communicate non-conformance to manufacturing and quality office.
  • Interpret scans and prepare reports documenting results
  • Develop procedures that satisfy NADCAP and specific customer requirements.
  • Write scan plans that meets specifications and are accepted by customer.
  • Interpret the Ultrasonic data and identify any non-conforming areas or trends
  • Write, implement and edit ultrasonic programs to meet customer specifications.
  • Assist manufacturing and engineering personnel in regards to part conformance and process capability by generating trend data (SPC) as required.
  • Establish and implement preventative maintenance program for all UT equipment.
  • Maintain and perform daily calibration and maintenance as required to ensure accurate data.
  • Conduct and document any First Article Inspections (FAI) as required.
  • Create and populate inspection reports in system and store as required.
  • Audit documentation (routers) for completeness and accuracy and identify any issues to manufacturing supervision.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Education:

  • Level II Ultrasonic Certificate (NAS-410) (ASNT)
  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years’ experience in using ultrasonic methods
  • Ability to program U.T. equipment.
  • Must meet vision requirements
